Volunteer With Hopewell Humane Society

Volunteers support daily shelter operations, including care, cleaning, laundry, organization, events, and other work needed to keep the cats safe and comfortable.

Volunteer Expectations

Volunteer roles are based on shelter needs. Cat interaction may be part of a shift, but volunteers should also expect to assist with cleaning, feeding support, laundry, organizing supplies, and maintaining safe shelter spaces.

Submitting an application does not automatically approve someone to volunteer. Applications must be reviewed, and additional training or supervision may be required before independent work begins.

Orientation

  • Offered Saturdays and Sundays at 4:30 PM
  • May take up to one hour
  • Approved volunteers must bring identification
  • Required training and shelter procedures are reviewed during onboarding

Ways Volunteers Help

  • Shelter care and cleaning
  • Feeding support, laundry, and supplies
  • Cat socialization when assigned
  • Events, outreach, photography, and special projects

Community Service

Community-service requests are reviewed separately and follow additional requirements. Available tasks, supervision, scheduling, and the shelter’s operational needs determine whether hours can be offered.

Community-service hours are not guaranteed. Do not report to the shelter without prior approval and scheduling.
